Wolseley UK, with support from Cloudfm, has achieved an excellent BREEAM rating for its Leamington Spa head office. Awarded in recognition of Wolseley’s ongoing commitment to sustainable design and innovation, this impressive accreditation reinforces the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
Site Facilities Manager at Leamington Spa, John Page explained why achieving BREEAM Excellent was so important: “There are many reasons why we wanted to achieve a BREEAM rating for our site, the main one being that it provides us with an industry standard to showcase our existing green credentials. We believe this standard provides a management tool to help keep delivering achievements.”
Facilities management company Cloudfm supported Wolseley UK in its application. Director of Consulting at Cloudfm, Derrick Hidden managed the team responsible for the M&E component of the bid. “Wolseley UK’s head office showcases how much can be achieved through environmental design and engineering,” he explained. “From the vast solar array, to the zero waste to landfill policy and the biodiverse meadow, Wolseley UK has embraced the sustainability agenda with impressive results.”
As part of the BREEAM survey, the Cloudfm team also reviewed Wolseley UK’s utilities, use of space, energy consumption and the condition, application and lifecycle of equipment throughout the site. Every last detail had to be considered and evaluated, down to the possibility of lights emitting beyond the site boundary.
John Page considers the amount of work involved to have been well worth it: “We are extremely pleased with our ‘Excellent’ rating and have worked hard to achieve it. Cloudfm’s knowledge of our estate and expertise in this area was invaluable. Derrick and his team ensured that the process ran smoothly and that we ticked every box, ultimately securing the best possible result.”
