It recently came to our attention that in parts of Colchester, air pollution is above national guidelines. At Cloudfm, we are dedicated to doing the right thing, not just for our industry, but for the environment also. It is therefore important to us to highlight issues and we’d like to call on your help to improve the quality of the air we breathe. Cleaner air will have enormous benefits for our health and for the environment; by making small changes to our behaviour and habits we could make a big difference.
Did you know that simply by switching off our car engines when stationary we could reduce pollution by up to 30%? Shockingly, 1 in 20 deaths in Colchester are linked to air pollution from cars, vans, lorries and buses, and the problem isn’t going to go away unless we do something about it.
Colchester Borough Council has been awarded funding from DEFRA* for a two-year behaviour change project to tackle levels of pollution in the borough, with an aim to raise awareness of the problem and encourage local people to take action.
The council are urging local people and businesses to take part in a short survey so they can better understand what is currently known about pollution, and the effect it has on our wellbeing and health.
They have also teamed up with people from Colchester to produce a video which highlights the effects of pollution and how we can all help to reduce it. Watch the video to see what small changes you could make.
