With easy activity tracking, real-time management and benchmarking capabilities, Cloudfm has worked together with The Guardian to manage their M&E contract more effectively – solving the previous challenges of visibility and tracking of maintenance tasks.
The Guardian Media Group’s headquarters at King’s Cross is everything you’d expect from one of the world’s foremost media companies. Open 24/7, the stylish building has housed the editorial offices of The Guardian since 2008. A main contractor is responsible for the building’s maintenance, but The Guardian’s own team manages all other aspects of facilities management.
Early in 2011 the FM team identified a need to improve control and visibility of M&E service delivery, and Cloudfm was chosen as the preferred solution.
Unlike any other end-to-end solution, it does not rely on anyone to input data, provide paperwork or verify accounts; the system forces control and compliance.
Cloudfm represented a completely new way of working for The Guardian, and the solution is being phased in to meet the organisation’s specific requirements. Phase 1 was to implement the core Cloudfm solution, which sits between the on-site engineer and the GNM team.
From the task being logged to the invoice being raised, every activity is monitored and verified. The FM team receive a status update on their smartphones each day and can log into their bespoke dashboard from anywhere in the world, at any time, to check that everything is in order.
The core system includes activity tracking, benchmarking, and the provision of real-time management information. As an online solution, it integrates easily with The Guardian’s systems, and the in-house engineers use iPads to manage workflow and ensure compliance.
Cloudfm has helped us to manage our M&E contract much more effectively. There isn’t any other solution that would let us track and manage what’s actually happening as we do now. We’ve seen particular improvements in the area of PPM, and contractors are much more proactive – the data speaks for itself and supports better decision making. Cloudfm is an excellent tool for FMs, contractors and engineers.”
