There’s only one thing better than a work family fun day that involves cake, bouncy castles, face painting and a dash of friendly rivalry – and that’s a work family fun day that offers all these things plus the chance to raise money for a good cause!
Our recent Cloudfm summer barbecue and family fun day supported a charity that is very close to our hearts, Team Mila, raising £768 (to date – the money is still coming in).
Mila, whose uncle Jonathan Marr is one of our Shared Services engineers, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was just three weeks old, and since then her family has dedicated themselves to raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. They set up Team Mila, with a mission to help fund the research that could allow people with Cystic Fibrosis live longer, healthier lives.
We were delighted to have Mila as our guest of honour – along with her family – joining our employees and their families and friends at the Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club. The weather may not have been the glorious sunshine we had for last year’s event, but even the threat of rain didn’t dampen our spirits!
The kids enjoyed bouncing around on the inflatables and playing large-scale games (giant Jenga anyone?), while the human-sized foosball game brought out a competitive streak in the adults! Expert face painting and a cake sale encouraged donations for Team Mila, as did a sale of new-season Coast eveningwear arranged by Michelle Stanley, while everyone enjoyed the tasty barbecue food and the opportunity to meet colleagues from other areas and departments.
We’re already looking forward to next year – we may have raised the bar this year, but we hope 2018’s event will be even bigger and better!
